Description:
Sophie (Wisdom) is appearing as an allegory to the Arts on a chancellike stage in front of a waving curtain as it is about to open.
The entire are a surrounding her is (cram-)ful in the shape of a stylised lily;this being the emblem of the French Royal Families as well as of Mother Mary,the lily being depicted in various different sizes.
Various different artworks are being summoned in manifold ways:
- the central figure,in both posture and leg position,is oriented on the "Great Morning" by P.O. Runge;from this also originates the infant at the feet of Sophie: as a symbol of the human soul which eternally rejuvenates itself as a sight of (the Goddess of) Art
- the poise of her left arm is borrowed from "Venus" by Botticelli,her right arm is a typical protagonist´s poise
- in the background are 10 pictures;top right a mirror,bottom left a window with view at the Eiffel Tower as well as the Rhine Tower.
With omnipresent might,Sophie appears in those pictures as the main actress:
- very top left,in Dürer´s "Self-Portrait"
- to the right to the mirror: Raffael´s "Sistene Madonna"
- to the left,underneath: Jan van Eyck´s "Vermählungsbild of Giovanni Arnolfini"
- to the right,underneath: Ruben´s "Maria de Medici"
- to the left,further down: John the Baptist from Grunewald´s Cruxification
- to the right,further down: Delacroix´s "Liberty"
- to the left,further down: Botticelli´s "Spring"
