60 Years NRW 2006
To mark the 60th anniversary,I arranged a comic-along-and-paint happening which took place at the Rhine promenade in Düsseldorf on 26th and 27th of August 2006.
On the right,you can see the draft which was used before the "change".
And here the final outcome:
"BuntesLand NRW"(Colourful Federal State NRW), acrylic on canvas, 200 x 200 cm.The painting is displayed in the entrance hall of the Centre of Further Education of the Adult Education Centre Düsseldorf at 1,Bertha-von-Suttner Platz 1.
Idea behind this: Each visitor would be invited to participate in the colouring of the painting and to add one or several "colour dots".Result was a pointillist picture on top of/over the whole area of NRW.
The order bound canvas was a square of the size 200 x 200 cm.Before the happening,I drafted the following sketch: the shape of the area of NRW as well as each administrative department district and towns not belonging to a district (in slightly changed shape) as a jigsaw puzzle in which the various individual parts interlok (sometimes with adjacent countries and federal states) and from one big whole.The shape of this area leaves room,top left and bottom right,for the crest of NRW,the title of the painting "BuntesLand NRW" and also for the writing "NRW 60" as a clue to the motive in the painting.
On both days of the happening,I was supported Irina Vinogradova.
